For years, patients in Dangoroyo—a district in Somalia’s Nugaal Region of Puntland—faced the daunting challenge of accessing vital lab tests. With no local facility, residents had to travel over 100 kilometers to regional hospitals in Garowe or Qardho, incurring high costs and enduring lengthy delays.
Now, thanks to the Damal Caafimaad Project, Dangoroyo Hospital has been fully equipped with the Pushkang Automated Chemistry Analyzer MS200, a state-of-the-art instrument that replaces all previous laboratory equipment. This single, integrated platform delivers rapid on-site diagnostic testing for:
- Kidney Function (Urea, Electrolytes, Creatinine)
- Liver Function
- Glucose and Lipid
Since the implementation of the MS200, the hospital’s daily testing capacity has surged from 7 to 20 tests. This dramatic improvement ensures that patients receive timely, accurate diagnoses—crucial for managing chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
